As a result of the government totally screwing up the economy, times are tight everywhere these days .  People and companies are all feeling the pinch and suffering. But some "communities" have to suffer more than others, especially if they are white.

The French owned company "Transdev", that operates the local bus company in and around Blackburn has been forced to introduce pay cuts for their workers and in a bold and praiseworthy attempt to drum up business have reduced fares on their buses.  But that is where the praise for "Transdev" ends.

Because prior to the "credit crunch", the bus route through the predominately "white" area of Highercroft which includes a large council house area where lots of young mothers live with their children, used to enjoy the services of low floor buses which provided easy access for their prams and pushchairs.

A second route through the "white area" also takes people to the Blackburn Queens Hospital which is visited by many elderly and disabled people who also found the low floor buses easier to board.

Sadly, both these routes have had their buses replaced with the old type "Atlantean" double decker buses(shown above) which have no facilities for low floor access and so now our elderly and disabled people are having problems boarding them.  As to, are the young mothers who need to go into town having problems, as embarking now means evicting the young children from their prams, folding the prams and then struggling to get aboard.  The 2nd level of the buses are unreachable for these passengers because of the winding steep stairs.

Now take a look at the nice new shiny bus above.  It is one of a fleet of new "Optare" buses that have low loading access and are warm and spacious that have been introduced into a new route through the growing Asian area of Whalley.  On boarding, the Asians are given vouchers which allow them to travel for free.

As you can see the foreign owned bus company know how to target the Asian market, they have a nice big image of a disabled Asian being pushed by another.

The funding of the new buses was helped by reducing the bus services through the white working class areas of Blackburn such as Shadsworth from every 15 minutes to 30 minutes so that the buses are now packed like white sardines during busy periods.  The British are now 2nd class citizens not just on the buses but in their own land.
