camels-nose

One cold night, as an Arab sat in his tent, a camel gently thrust his nose under the flap and looked in. "Master," he said, "let me put my nose in your tent. It's cold and stormy out here." "By all means," said the Arab, "and welcome" as he turned over and went to sleep.

A little later the Arab awoke to find that the camel had not only put his nose in the tent but his head and neck also. The camel, who had been turning his head from side to side, said, "I will take but little more room if I place my forelegs within the tent. It is difficult standing out here." "Yes, you may put your forelegs within," said the Arab, moving a little to make room, for the tent was small.

Finally, the camel said, "May I not stand wholly inside? I keep the tent open by standing as I do." "Yes, yes," said the Arab. "Come wholly inside. Perhaps it will be better for both of us." So the camel crowded in. The Arab with difficulty in the crowded quarters again went to sleep. When he woke up the next time, he was outside in the cold and the camel had the tent to himself.

What? Another image of camels. What is going on with all these camels? "Have we been invaded by Camels?"

Well no we have not, but a town in Australia as and they are having a bit of a rough time from their unwelcome "guests".

He added that farmers were sick of the humped pests, which are estimated to number more than one million in the Northern Territory's vast red-sand reaches.

The camels, which are not native to Australia but were introduced in the 1840s, have smashed water tanks in the town and are becoming more aggressive towards residents.

Local shire chief Graham Taylor said: "I think the words 'under siege' are good words because it talks about people being stuck in their homes and looking out and seeing just numbers of camels at your front door.

Now I cannot quite think it out but I am sure there is a similarity here somewhere as to what is happening in Our Country. Perhaps you can see what I am missing.

So what are the Aussies going to do with their unwelcome guests. Well they are going to cull them, it is either that or hand the land over to the camels.

And for some reason when I read that, I think of the book Camp of the Saints and try to see if again there is some kind of similarity in the two stories. But no. Just cant see it.

Perhaps I might find something in Mark Steyn's book America Alone: The end of the World as we Know it that is reviewed here.

Why did Bosnia collapse into the worst slaughter in Europe since World War Two? In the thirty years before the meltdown, Bosnian Serbs had declined from 43 percent to 31 percent of the population, while Bosnian Muslims had increased from 26 percent to 44 percent. In a democratic age, you can't buck demography except through civil war. The Serbs figured that out alas other Continentals will in the years ahead: if you can't outbreed the enemy, cull em. The problem that Europe faces is that Bosnia’s demographic profile is now the model for the entire continent.

No, no help there either. Never mind, it might come to me later. Hope it comes to you to, because I have a feeling we are in for a ride that will be rougher than sitting on the back of a humping camel.

All you ever wanted to know about camels. Got the hump? Got two humps?
