The unanimous Declaration

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. —
That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
Strange really, I cannot find any reference to the word "Independence" anywhere in The American Declaration of Independence, The Want, Will and Hopes of the People that I copied the above piece of text from.
Why did I post this article. Well because I think the words written for the 13 United States of America are amoungst the greatest words ever writen and today, we in this country, also have a govenment that ignores and abuses the people and therfore, it becomes the duty of the people to overthrow that government.
If it is possible to have a favourite out of so many brave, great men as the Declarations signatories, mine would be Thomas Jefferson and below are a few of my favourite quotations by him.
When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.
I have the consolation of having added nothing to my private fortune during my public service, and of retiring with hands clean as they are empty.
