In the 1950's the word Uhuru, meaning “Freedom” in Swahili, became synonymous with what is still portrayed as the Mau Mau struggle against white Colonial rule in Kenya. Meanwhile, in the present day the Uhuru movement is a black power movement in America, whilst Black Uhuru is a Jamaican reggae band. Uhuru is a word which the liberals like to associate with black freedom fighters rising up against white oppression, or which they use to evoke images of a rich African culture usually to the backing chants of village children or some lilting and sanitised voice of ethnic African revolution, such as the late Miriam MakebaHowever, for anyone who has studied the so called struggle for freedom in Kenya and the activities of the Communist inspired Mau Mau the word has far more sinister connotations. The barbarity and cruelty practised by the Mau Mau was an early example of the daily routine sadism and savagery we now see across Africa and reveal quite how outrageous and dishonest the case currently being brought by one-time Mau Mau terrorists against the British government, over alleged torture, actually is.

Most of us have spent the last few months shivering our way through the coldest winter in years. In Britain and much of Europe it has been the coldest for forty years, whilst, as I write, America is experiencing the heaviest snowfall in over ninety years.
Yet, despite the weather, we have no option but to carry on. Day after day we struggle to work on icy roads and in gridlocked traffic jams, or we stand on freezing railway stations waiting for trains so packed that, when travelling in then, we have no option other than to share intimate bodily contact with total strangers, grateful only for the few months respite from the sweltering heat which will make the carriages even less bearable in that humid sticky time called summer.
At the end of our journey, we will spend eight, nine, ten or even more working in a job we dislike at a wage we know is far below what we are worth, but which we must cling to because there is no alternative.
The endless day complete, we struggle home again through the same gridlocked traffic and in the same crowded carriages, maybe stopping en route to queue in overcrowded supermarkets and pay surly third world shop assistants for overpriced food, which we take home and eat in front of the propaganda which now passes for television entertainment.
Meanwhile, our media regales us with the joys of diversity and how lucky we are to live in this overcrowded, crime ridden, polluted and bankrupt multicultural hell hole. Then we go to bed and dream of something better before we have to start another day,
It is not like this for everyone though, as we stand shivering on West Ruislip station waiting for the next humanity crammed sardine can mascaraing as a railway carriage, others are sunning themselves on multi-million pound yachts, moored in Caribbean lagoons, off Pacific islands or close to the snow white sands of Indian Ocean beaches.

I see we are supposedly out of recession, or "just out of recession", shall we say, given that our economy grew by a dismal 0.1% in the last quarter of 2009! I believe this may be the result of a lucky company in, Tiverton winning a contract to supply soup kitchen equipment to tented village outside Sacramento (although the Daily Mash credits the upturn to a chubby woman who bought a Cadbury's Boost bar at a Shell Garage on New Year's Eve )

Most of the world have reacted with immense charity and compassion in response to the terrible scenes coming out of Haiti following the horrific earthquake which has taken so many lives, and destroyed so many more. Unfortunately, however, as with all these events, the earth had hardly settled before some very unattractive forces began to crawl out from the dark foul recesses where they lurk in order to take full advantage of what had occurred, whilst other forces began ferociously rewriting history to suit a multitude of agendas.

I see that Tower Hamlets are still determined to go ahead with the plan to erect the controversial planned gates at either end of London's heavily colonised Brick Lane. This is despite the fact that they have received 158 objections from the public and no votes in favour.
The proposed gates are viewed as a tribute to the large local Muslim community, and will form part of a £2 million “Heritage Trail”, which seems an odd choice given that the only impact which Islam has had on British or English Heritage is being one of the forces most likely to end it.

As many of you will be aware, February in America is “Black History month”. (in Britain we have something similar in October, although it has not (yet) reached the prominence it is given in the states) The intention of Black history month was to give the black minority in the USA a month to celebrate their culture, their history and the achievements black people have made over the centuries. Well, at least, that is the official story.
If that were true, who could complain?, all people, black, white and brown should celebrate their culture and be proud of their history. However, that is not what black history month is all about, it is certainly not about the truth. In reality, February in America has become a time when false history is taught in schools, even more than it already is, and the media bristles with historical lies, distortions and pure unadulterated fantasy, even more than usual.
History is re-written to either give it a black focus, which did not exist in reality, to celebrate black achievements which never happened or more insidiously, and maybe more importantly, to undermine and devalue the real achievements of white people.

Anyone who has not spent the last few months out of radio range either in a submarine beneath the ice caps, searching for signs of global warming, or making a wild life documentary about Amazonian termites, will have noticed that for the first time which anyone not currently drawing their pensions can remember, senior politicians have actually started to talk about immigration at a time when a general election may be less than a few months away.
